If during otoscopy it is found that there is no earwax present, you will receive an ear health consultation:
If there is wax present in one of both ears, earwax removal will be performed along with an ear health consultation afterwards.
The price remains the same whether wax is removed from one or both ears.
If you are within 10 miles of our Shaw clinic, there is an additional £10 charge on top of the clinic prices. This means wax removal is £60 (same price whether it's for one or both ears) and if there is no wax present, it's £30 for the call out and consultation. If you live further than 10 miles away from our clinic in Shaw, Oldham, there is an additional £10 for every extra 10 miles.
We are DBS checked and insured to carry out visits to nursing and residential homes and also have dementia training and experience treating dementia patients. The pricing is the same as for a standard home visit. If within 10 miles of our clinic, it's £60 for wax removal or £30 if no wax is present for the call-out and consultation. If we are unsuccessful on our first visit and further visits are needed, you only pay for the first visit and we will visit a further 2 times. If we are still unsuccessful, there will either be an additional £60 charge, or the decision will be made for onward referral.
Due to the extra time taken to visit hospitals with regards to finding and paying for parking, hospital visits are priced higher. It's £80 for a hospital ward visit. If you book online, you'll receive a call before the visit to clarify the details. If we are unsuccessful on the first visit, we will come again one further time free of charge and if we are still unsuccessful, we will make a joint decision whether you'd like to pay for a further visit or have an onward referral made.
Please note that you are paying for a quality service from a reputable company who hires only qualified audiologists. Wax removal is not a regulated service, meaning that anybody can do it with little or no training and no experience of what they're supposed to be looking at inside an ear! Our qualified audiologists have at least 10 years experience of looking in ears and being able to identify abnormalities, benign or sinister and knowing when you need a referral to a GP or ENT consultant.
Prices are the same as above with an additional surcharge of £10 if you live within 10 miles of our Shaw clinic. If you live further away than this, please call for a quote. We cover Oldham and surrounding areas. Please get in touch if you or a family member require a home visit.
